NetResults Tracker Version 6.0.0 Release Notes

New Features

A summary of features and fixes in Version 6.0.0 is available on the NetResults Tracker Feature List page on our web site. The summary includes links to the relevant sections of the Help manuals with information on how to enable and use each new feature. To maintain backward compatibility most new features are not enabled immediately after upgrade. Your Tracker administrator can then enable the new features at their convenience.

New License Keys

Version 6.0 requires new license keys. Your Version 5.x or prior license keys will not work with Version 6.0 software. Please do not upgrade your installation to Version 6.0 until you have your Version 6.0 license keys. Upgrading without the appropriate license keys could result in the inability to login to your workgroups (because you have more users than licenses entered), unexpected changes to your users (floating users will be converted to static users if a floating license key is not entered), and/or the inability to use certain features. You can request your license keys when you download the Version 6.0 software. License key requests are reviewed by Sales and licenses will be issued within one business day if your Software Updates and Support (SUS) subscription was current as of April 1, 2007. If your SUS subscription expired prior to that date, you will need to renew your SUS subscription ("maintenance") in order to use Version 6.0. You can check your SUS subscription status and/or renew your SUS subscription online by using the Subscription Renewal Information page on our web site.

New Requirements

Version 6.0 has new hardware and software requirements. Some old platforms (for instance Windows NT 4.0) are no longer supported. Some new platforms (for instance SQL Server 2005 SP1) are now supported. Before installing, please review the Version 6.0 Requirements. The fact that the software successfully installs does not mean that your server meets our requirements. If it does not meet the requirements, some features of the product will not operate properly and/or you may have very poor performance. Your support agreement is not valid on any server which does not meet the requirements. If you install version 6.0 software on a server which does not meet the version 6.0 requirements, no assistance will be provided by NetResults. If you do not have a web server which meets the requirements and wish to use Version 6.0, you may wish to consider moving to the hosted version of NetResults Tracker. We can move your existing data to our data center. All you will need to use the system (including administrative operations) is a web browser.

Known Limitations

The following are known defects in version 6.0.0. These issues will be fixed in a future maintenance release.

  • If (a) a user account is (or was) in more than one workgroup and (b) is deleted in one of the workgroups and (c) that workgroup is the first workgroup that the user was given access to, then Edit operations on that user performed from the User Management System (UMS) will partially delete the user from the workgroup. No data or configuration is lost, however, the user account will disappear from most workgroup operations (the user will no longer appear in User Administration, or in Query, or in History, or as a possible Assignee or Reporter, etc.). But, the user can still login.  To avoid this issue in situations when users are added to multiple workgroups, please edit the user from within the workgroup (rather than editing the user in UMS).  To allow editing from the workgroup, login to UMS, click on the Admin icon, select "Set User Account Options".  In the "Edit User..." section, select "Allow workgroup administrators to edit user account information for all users in their workgroup" and click Update.
  • If a state is added to multiple workflows and the state is removed from one of the workflows, all transitions for that state will be removed from all workflows where that state is added (instead of only removing them from a single workflow).  To avoid this issue when removing a state, on the page where you are prompted to delete transitions or select a replacement click on the "Show Transitions" list to see which transitions involve the state you are trying to remove, then click Cancel (so you do not actually remove the state).  Edit the transitions that were on the list to select a replacement using the Workflow Transitions Help section.  This will leave the state in the workflow (and therefore, prevent the transitions from being removed in other workflows), but the state will not be used in this workflow (since you have edited the affected transitions).  Or, if you have already removed a state from a workflow, you will need to re-create the transitions for the state in each workflow using the steps in the Workflow Transitions Help section.
  • When Text and HTML option is selected in the Outgoing Email Configuration, the <action user> variable does not display the user's name in email notification messages.  To workaround this issue select "Text Only" in the Outgoing Email Configuration:  Login as Admin, click on the Admin icon, click on Email Configuration, select "Set Mail Server Configuration" and click Continue.  Set "Multi Part Email" to "Text Only" and click OK.
  • When any of the variables <old assignee>, <new assignee>, <old status> or <new status> are included in email rules for "On Add" and "On Delete", the actual value of the variable will not be replaced in the email messages.
  • If a transition has "New Assignee" set to "Last Assignee for <State>" and the selected state is removed from the workflow, the transition will still have the removed state selected even if a replacement state was selected.  This problem will result in the warning "A last assignee in the state <removed state> is not available for this record." being displayed when trying to use the affected transition.  To workaround this issue, login as Admin, click on the Admin icon, click on Manage Workflows, select the affected workflow in the pulldown, click on the "+" to the left of the state that contains the affected transition, click on the Edit link to the right of the affected transition, select a replacement state in the pulldown after "Last Assignee for <State>" and click OK.
  • When using Firefox browser to submit a record on the Submit Page and the state manager of a field is based on a pulldown set to be displayed as a radio button, a system error will be displayed when trying to add a record using the Submit Page.  To workaround this issue, change the pulldown the state manager is based on to be displayed as a pulldown instead of a radio button.  To do this, login as Admin, click on the Admin icon, click on the Manage Fields button, click Edit to the left of the pulldown, change the "Display Style" to "Pulldown" and click OK.
  • If a transition was set to use Product as a Task Field prior to upgrading to Version 6.0.0, the following issues will occur: (a) when the Task operation is used, the Product field will not be displayed, (b) when an Admin tries to modify the Task Fields for such a Transition, the Product field is not listed in the In Use pane and no fields at all are listed in the Not In Use pane, (c) when an Admin tries to Edit the Transition, a system error will occur.  Please contact NetResults Technical Support for information about how to resolve these issues.
  • Restricted users are not able to edit or task their own records when Record Visibility is enabled.  If it is not necessary for you to have Record Visibility enabled, disable it by logging in as Admin, clicking on the Admin icon, clicking on General Preference and setting the option "Enable Record Visibility" to No.  Information to help you decide whether you need to have Record Visibility enabled can be found in this Knowledge Base article.
  • If an option menu (pulldown) item is added with a single quote in the value, it will be displayed with two single quotes. You can workaround this issue by using the edit option menu item operation to change it back to one single quote. This issue only affects the add option menu item operation, it does not affect the edit option menu item operation.
  • A few internal links within some of the Help Manuals are not correct (you may receive "not found" when following them). You can view the latest version of the Help Manuals (where these links have been fixed) in the Online Help Manuals section of our web site.
